IITM BS answers
What is the IITM BS Qualifier Exam, and how do I become eligible?
The Qualifier Exam is taken after 4 weeks of assignments in each of 4 foundation subjects; you need at least a 40% average (lower for reserved categories) in each subject across your best 2 of the first 3 weeks to be allowed to sit it.
- ▸General learners need ≥40% average assignment score in each of the 4 subjects; SC/ST/PwD(40%+) need ≥30%; OBC-NCL/EWS need ≥35%.
- ▸To actually pass the Qualifier Exam itself, you additionally need to clear a per-subject cutoff (also 40%/30%/35% depending on category) AND an overall average cutoff (50% general, 40% SC/ST/PwD, 45% OBC-NCL/EWS) across all 4 subjects.
- ▸A passing Qualifier score stays valid for the 3 terms immediately after you take it — after that it expires and you'd need to redo the whole qualifier process.
